Joey has drawn a child playing All staff, long term students and volunteers are checked through the Criminal Record Bureau (CRB) to ensure the protection of children. All staff have an enhanced CRB. Any students or visitors are never left alone with children.

Although we are only required to have 50% of our staff qualified, we are proud to be working towards having a 100% qualified staff team. We currently have 80% of staff qualified. Smartys Day Nursery support staff training requirements during employment and encourage on going training and updates throughout employment.

All staff are required to complete and update:

  • first aid
  • behaviour management 0-2 and 3-5 years
  • health and safety at work
  • foundation in food hygiene
  • child protection awareness
  • Sing and sign training

We are pleased to say that staff turn-over is not an issue to Smartys. The majority of staff have many years service with the nursery.
